Acts 8:34-37

“And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

– Acts 8:34-37

Have you ever wondered why I use the King James Version? Many people tell me that it’s way too hard to read and understand. It turns out that the King James Version was written on a fifth-grade level (but that’s another post for another day). However, I do want you to look up this passage in your Bible (specifically Acts 8:37) and tell me what you see. Several versions have completely taken this verse out.

I love reading this account in the Bible. The Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8 asked Philip who Jesus was. And Philip was ready with a reply. He preached the Gospel of Jesus unto him, and told him all about the Saviour. What do you do when someone asks you about God? Do you freeze up and instantly wonder what they’ll think of you if you tell them about Jesus? We can’t be afraid to tell others about God and what He has done for us.

The key to being saved is outlined in verse 37. We need to believe with all of our heart that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He willingly laid down His life for us. It’s that simple. All we need to do is accept the free gift that God has given us.

If you are not 100% sure that you will go to Heaven when you die, now is the time to repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ. If you have any questions or doubts about your salvation, click here to learn how you can be saved!
