Note for a Stranger

In this post, I listed a note as one of the ways you could spread the Gospel.

If you attended James Madison University when I was there as an undergraduate, you may have found a note addressed to whoever picked it up. Inside, I’d written a note, some variation of the one below, and usually included a Chick tract, as I always found that they were interesting to read, since they were a “comic book” version of the Gospel.

If I’d worked with some people in my classes, then usually on the very last day, I would write them a similar note, with a Chick tract, and give it to them right as class ended. After all, I would probably never see them again, so even if they thought I was strange, the odds of us running into each other again on such a large campus were very slim.

I don’t know if any of these letters impacted anyone (and probably never will), but I believe that God has a plan for everything and that His word does not return void.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. – Isaiah 55:11, King James Version

As a challenge for you this week, write someone (either a stranger or someone you know) an encouraging letter. It, at the very least, will put a smile on someone’s face, and it always made me so happy leaving a note on campus for someone to find. You never know what someone’s going through, and your brief moment of kindness may just end up making all the difference.

Hi there!

I don’t know who you are, or if I’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting you, but I do know that this letter found its way into your hands for a reason. Life can be hard and stressful, but I want you to know through all of the chaos that you are LOVED. Yes, you! In fact, someone loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you, so you wouldn’t need to spend eternity in a place of pain and suffering. God loves you so very much! So whatever season of life you may be going through – joy, loneliness, peace, fear, and so on – know that there are people who love you and pray for YOU!

As always, feel free to leave any questions or comments below!

If you do not know 100% that you will be going to Heaven when you die, now is the time to repent and put your faith and trust in Christ Jesus. If you have any questions or doubts about your salvation, click here to read how to be saved.
