The song Til You Can’t by Cody Johnson nearly makes me cry every time I hear it – at the very least it makes me pensive. It’s one of the few country songs that really get me thinking (along with Dirt Cheap by Cody Johnson and She’s Somebody’s Daughter by Drew Baldridge). Here recently, with several people close to me who have died recently, when I hear this song, it really makes me think.
You can always put off spending time with those you love and chase other things, like your career or hobby. I’m not saying it’s wrong to chase those things, but I am saying it shouldn’t be a priority. Death is pretty much the only thing guaranteed in life. You can keep putting off spending time with loved ones…until one day you can’t. They’ll be gone and you won’t be able to sit next to them or hear their voice. I’m not saying you always have to say yes, but if they were gone tomorrow, would you regret your choices?
The good news is that if you and your loved ones are born again believers, you’ll see each other again in Heaven one day. If you’re not saved, you’ve got a chance to make the decision to follow Christ – until one day you die and you no longer can make that choice.
I had recently heard this song on a road trip and was thinking about how I could incorporate it in an upcoming post. Then I watched the Turning Point halftime show this weekend, and knew I had to share this version of the song. One day, you’re going to run out of time – with your loved ones and for yourself. Are you making the right decisions? Will you regret the choices you made?
If you are not 100% sure that you’ll go to Heaven when you die, now is the time to repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ. If you have any questions or doubts about your salvation, click here to learn how you can be saved!
