“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
– Matthew 24:4
We need to be careful about what we believe. You can’t just take what I say, and assume that I’m right, and you can’t just take what your pastor says and assume that he’s right. In all that we do, we must test whatever we hear, read, and see against the Word of God, which is our standard for truth.
Many things can sound good, and very close to being right. That is often how we are tricked. There is a hint of truth mixed in with a whole lot of lies. That hint of truth throws us off of our guard, and we can easily fall into the trap.
Be careful to not let anyone deceive you. Be on your guard, ready to defend what’s right and keep others from being led astray by someone who is only telling half-truths. How can you do this? You need to know God’s Word inside and out. You can’t just keep your Bible on your shelf and read it every Sunday and assume that you know everything. It just doesn’t work that way. Read your Bible daily and test everything that you hear against what it says. This way, you can stand for what is right and know whether or not you are being told the truth.
If you do not know 100% that you will be going to Heaven when you die, now is the time to repent and put your faith and trust in Christ Jesus. If you have any questions or doubts about your salvation, click here to read how you can be saved.
