You’ve heard me say it, time and again. Freedom is not free.

The freedoms that we take for granted – and even, perhaps, relinquish for the fleeting promise of safety – were all paid for in blood. Someone gave up their chance to live, to grow old, to start a family, all so that you could be free and have the chance to do the things they couldn’t. They died fighting for you. They died fighting for America. You may not agree with how America is run, or what it stands for, but you must remember: the flag and the freedoms that this country has are all paid for in blood. They died for your ability to make your own decisions about the country you live in, whether you agree or not. They died for your freedom.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. Never forget the sacrifices others have made so that you can live.

“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.”

Just like many soldiers throughout generations have paid for your freedom with their blood, Jesus has paid for your eternal freedom by His blood. If you are not 100% sure that you’ll go to Heaven when you die, now is the time to learn about Jesus’ sacrifice so that you may live.
