Wednesday this year is Veterans Day, a day that we as Americans pay tribute to all veterans. This includes veterans who fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the War Between the States (the Civil War), World War 1 & 2, Vietnam, Korea, the Gulf Wars, and the War on Terror. Unlike Memorial Day, which remembers the veterans we have lost, Veterans Day pays tribute to all veterans, living or dead.
Every single veteran was willing to give something for America’s freedom – whether it be a limb, their mind, or their life. Do not let their sacrifices go unnoticed and unthanked. Today, if you know a veteran, or someone who is still serving, give them a call and thank them for their sacrifice.
Imagine everything they have seen while protecting America…the least you can do is say thank you.
Did you know that Veterans Day was celebrated the fourth Monday of October for a while? I have found a short video on the history of Veterans Day!
The Bible says that “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). Our veterans were willing to lay down their lives for us. But they’re not the only one who sacrificed for our freedom.
God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay our sin debt and save us from an eternity in Hell – ensuring our freedom from sin. If you are not 100% sure that you’ll go to Heaven when you die, now is the time to repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ.
